Beautiful Ice Bucket is about a shiny chromed thing I fished out of a construction waste bin when I was working as a sparky on the Greenlane Hospital Building 4 Upgrade in about 2003. Departing medical Departments abandoned all sorts of cool shiny things, probably because it was easier for the Departments to just leave, and let demolition teams take away the things the Departments didn’t want, than for the Departments to pay people to take stuff away.
The demolition teams sent labourers through first, who had been instructed to remove everything removeable and put it in waste skips. They were contractually forbidden from taking and keeping anything they had put in the skips.
As an entirely separate contractor, I was not similarly constrained. I saw a shiny thing in the bin and pulled it out. We use it as an ice bucket. One evening I saw a show on TV where a surgeon was dumping bloody forceps and retractors into something that looked like our ice bucket.
It remains, nevertheless, a beautiful ice bucket.
